Youth detained for stealing Magistrate’s vehicle

A youth accused of locking up a Magistrate at his residence in Piliyandala and stealing his car, has been arrested. The suspect had committed the crime on Saturday and was arrested in Wattala, the Police said today. The suspect had reportedly visited the residence of the Magistrate claiming he wants to rent the house. However, the suspect locked the Magistrate inside and stole his car. (Colombo Gazette)

Woman accidentally shot dead during Dematagoda raid

A woman was accidentally shot dead during a raid carried out by the security forces in the Dematagoda area late this evening. The Police said that the weapon of a member of the security forces had misfired during a raid at the Wanathamulla flats. The woman was killed in the shooting.
