Sri Lanka hosts mass wedding for Chinese couples

Sri Lanka today hosted a mass wedding for 50 Chinese couples at a grand ceremony in Colombo.

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Champika Ranawaka said that the event was held to strengthen Sri Lanka – China ties.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development and the Tourism Ministry as well as the Chinese Government.

Sri Lanka and China share longstanding and deep relations in all sectors.

The couples were given an all expense paid stay in Sri Lanka following the wedding ceremony so they can experience what Sri Lanka offers tourists. (Colombo Gazette)

President Xi sends greetings to Mahinda

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent New Year greetings to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The greeting was conveyed to Rajapaksa by the Chinese?Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Cheng Xueyuan, today. “Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan of China paid a courtesy call where he presented me with the new year greetings of President Xi Jinping,” Rajapaksa tweeted.
