Retired train engine drivers called for duty as strike continues

All retired train engine drivers have been called for duty as a railway strike continued today, the Government information department said.

The Government said that retired railway guards, station masters and controllers have also been called for duty.

Railway trade unions have been on strike since last week after talks over their demands failed.

Following a meeting today the trade unions decided to continue with the strike. (Colombo Gazette)
