Underage girls abused, videoed

Two underage girls have been sexually abused and videoed in Piliyandala, the police media unit said today. According to the police the girls aged 9 and 10 had been sexually abused near the Bolgoda lake last morning. Following a police complaint over the incident the police arrested a suspect and will produce him in court today. Spanish navy rescues Lankan crew

The Spanish navy has rescued six Sri Lankan fishermen and their fishing vessel from Somali pirates, the European Press quoted the Spanish Defence Ministry as saying today. The Spanish Navy patrol craft ‘Infanta Elena’ had rescued the Sri Lankan fishermen who were in the custody of the Somali pirates for six months. Strong winds expected later today

The Department of Meteorology has warned that strong winds may be experienced in most parts of the country today. It said that the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) (Northern and Southern hemispheric winds convergence Zone) is currently over Sri Lanka.
