Chinese Navy ship arrives in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit

A?Chinese Navy ship arrived in Sri Lanka today on a goodwill visit, the Navy media unit said. The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ship Qian Weichang arrived at the port of Colombo and was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions. Hambantota port officials insist Navy will be in charge of security

Officials at the?Hambantota port insisted that the Navy will be in charge of security at the port and not the Chinese. A group of journalists were taken on a visit to the port to see first hand some aspects of the port and to be briefed on future operations. Local officials working with the Chinese company operating the port said that the port security is in the hands of the Sri Lanka Navy.
