Cop injured after another policeman’s gun misfires

A policeman was injured after another policeman’s gun misfired in Kegalle, the Police media unit said. The Police said the gun misfired during a raid launched to arrest a suspect in Kegalle. The suspect was eventually arrested.

Cabinet decides to allow private sector to import rice

The cabinet has decided to allow the private sector to import rice, the Government information department said today. Cabinet had discussed the rapid increase in?the price of rice in the domestic market and decided to permit the private sector to import rice to offer?relief to the public without affecting domestic farmers. The cabinet has further decided that the imported amount should be decided by the cabinet subcommittee on the cost of living. (Colombo Gazette)
