Railway strike called off following talks on demands

The railway strike which was scheduled to be staged from midnight tonight, has been called off following talks held today, the Prime Minister’s office said.

The Prime Minister’s office said that the talks involved railway trade unions,┬áDeputy Minister of Transport Ashok Abeysinghe and the relevant Government officials.

It was decided at the talks to resolve issues related to salary anomalies and also to modernise the railway industry. (Colombo Gazette)
