Sri Lanka looks to build stronger ties with Japan under Abe

Sri Lanka today said it will look to build stronger ties with Japan under re-elected Japanese Prime Minister Shinz? Abe.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling coalition won a majority in Parliament after capturing more than 300 of the 465 seats in Japan’s lower house that were up for grabs on Sunday.

Following the win, President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tweeted congratulatory remarks.

“Heartfelt congratulations to Japan?s Prime Minister @AbeShinzo for his landslide victory in the country?s general elections,” President Sirisena tweeted.

“Congratulations @AbeShinzo on re-election. I look forward to continuing our work building stronger Japan-Sri Lanka cooperation,” Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tweeted. (Colombo Gazette)

Isolation lifted in parts of Matale and Kattankudy

The isolation imposed in ten Grama Niladhari Divisions (GND) in Kattankudy in the Batticaloa District and two areas in Matale have been lifted with immediate effect. SLPP demands apology from Wimal over comments on party leadership
