Railway unions suspend train strike following talks

Railway trade unions have decided to suspend the strike which was scheduled to be launched tomorrow.

The strike was to be launched over salary anomalies, the trade unions said.

However they said the strike has now been called off following talks with the relevant officials.

Railway trade unions had recently launched a lightning strike severely inconveniencing the passengers. (Colombo Gazette)

Eight admitted to hospital following Mullaitivu explosion

Eight children were admitted to hospital following an explosion at a school in?Mullaitivu today. The Police said that six girls and two boys were admitted to hospital. The explosion took place during a dengue eradication program.
