Government asserts no decision to increase fuel prices

The Government today asserted a decision has not been taken to increase the price of fuel.

Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga told Parliament that while Indian Oil has indicated it wants to increase the price of fuel the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will not increase the price of fuel.

He said that Indian Oil has been urged to reconsider moves to increase the price of fuel.

The Minister, speaking in Parliament, also said that there was no move to privatise the state oil Corporation. (Colombo Gazette)
