LG polls postponed indefinitely

The Local Government (LG) elections has been postponed indefinitely owing to the unavailability of sufficient funds. Commissioner-General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake said that preparations to hold the elections cannot go ahead. The election had been postponed to 25th April but the Commission said that it has now been postponed with no new date in mind. Sanath-led committee to probe Sri Lanka’s recent failures

A committee led by former captain Sanath Jayasuriya is to investigate Sri Lanka’s recent failures in international cricket. Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe appointed a technical advisory committee to Sri Lanka Cricket led by Sanath Jayasuriya. The other members in the committee includes Farveez Maharoof, Kapila Wijegunawardene, Asantha De Mel, and Charith Senanayake.
