Demo against MR in Malaysia cancelled

MIC Youth and a number of non-governmental organisations have cancelled a planned demonstration against the scheduled visit by Sri Lanka president Mahinda Rajapaksa to Malaysia on Wednesday. Its chief T.Mohan told a press conference on Sunday that the demonstration, planned to be held in front of the Sri Lankan High Commission, was cancelled following a news report that Rajapaksa would not be attending the Islamic World Economic Forum in Johor scheduled from Dec 4 to 6. Congress criticized for using Lankan child in ad

The Indian Congress party has used a picture of a Sri Lankan child in it’s advertising campaign for the assembly elections in Gujarat, the Hindustan Times reported. The report said that the BJP in India has lashed out at congress for using the picture of the?malnourished?child to highlight malnutrition in the state of Gujarat where the BJP is in power. Young doctor reported missing

A young female doctor has been reported missing whike she was on her way from Matara to Hikkaduwa last evening. Erandi Kulasinghe, who works at Matara General Hospital, left the hospital around 6pm last evening to go Hikkaduwa driving a dark blue Nissan March (KC 5160), her friends and relatives said in messages sent around today. The last time she contacted her husband she had been near Labaduwa in Galle. A?complaint?has been lodged with the police over the missing doctor.
