Provincial Council Elections Amendment Bill passed with majority

The Provincial Council Elections Amendment Bill was passed in Parliament by a majority today.

The Bill was passed during the third reading by a 2/3rd majority, with 159 votes for and 37 against it.

Earlier the Attorney General had informed Speaker Karu Jayasuriya that the Bill will require a 2/3rd majority in Parliament to be approved.
