Romesh Jayawardene, who was appointed as chairman of the Development Lotteries Board by former Minister Ravi Karunanayake, has been removed from the post.
In a gazette notice, Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera, said that he is removing Romesh Jayawardene from his post.
“By virtue of the powers vested in me by Section 5 of the Development Lotteries Board Act, No. 20 of 1997, I, Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media, do by this Order remove Mr. Romesh Jayawardene from the office of Chairman/Director of the Development Lotteries Board,” the notice said.
Jayawardene was appointed to the post when Karunanayake was Finance Minister and continued to remain in the post after Karunanayake was made Foreign Minister. (Colombo Gazette)
