Sri Lankans affected by Hurricane Harvey urged to contact embassy

Sri Lankans affected by Hurricane Harvey have been urged to contact the Sri Lankan Embassy in the US for assistance.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the middle Texas coast last evening and is likely to stay near or just inland of the middle Texas coast through the weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible and Harvey is forecast to become a major hurricane before it reaches the middle Texas coast.

Sri Lankan citizens resident in these areas affected by the hurricane may reach out to the Embassy in Washington DC or Sri Lanka’s Honorary Consul in Texas for any consular assistance that may be required, including contacting next of kin in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Embassy in the US said.

  1. What a Joke, When we had Huge Mud slides and floods in SL we had to contact for outside help, Mid East Lankans who face dire situations cant get any help form our embassy. Its better for Lankans to deal with US authorities They know what they are doing
