Uva Provincial Council votes against 20th Amendment

The Uva Provincial Council today voted against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

The 20th Amendment was rejected with 12 members voting against it and 5 for it.

Under the proposed 20th Amendment elections to all Provincial Councils will be held in one day.

Earlier this week the North Central Provincial Council approved the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

The draft Bill on the 20th Amendment to Constitution was presented to Parliament yesterday. (Colombo Gazette)
