Amungama says anyone against cabinet decision must resign

Minister of Special Assignments Sarath Amunugama says anyone in the cabinet opposing a cabinet decision must resign.

Speaking to reporters in Kandy today, the Minister said that there is freedom of speech in the cabinet for anyone to voice their opinions.

However he says no one in the cabinet can publicly speak against a final decision taken by the cabinet.

Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has come under fire for speaking against the cabinet decision on the Hambantota port.

Cabinet had recently approved an agreement with a Chinese company on the port and the agreement was eventually signed.

The Government including the United National Party have demanded¬†Rajapakshe’s resignation over the public comments he had reportedly made against the China deal. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. We all know the Cabinet is heavily corrupted. What is wrong anyone going against it and criticising the wrong doing? We will teach the lesson in next election.

    • What is the position he took up in the Cabinet Meetings. Is he making a Publicity stunt. This was expected from the day he invited Mahinda for his son’s wedding which was recognised by some newspapers then.
