TNA has had enough, calls for foreign intervention

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says enough is enough and the international community must now intervene to address the issues faced by the Tamils in the North.

TNA leader R. Sampanthan says the Government has begun to divert from its political goals and so it is time the international community stepped in.

He said the failure by the military to release all occupied private lands in the North will not help the reconciliation process.

Sampanthan said that the Tamil people have now lost patience.

“Foreign countries must not remain silent anymore. They must intervene,” he said.

Sampanthan had expressed these views in letters addressed to the UN and foreign diplomatic missions in the country. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Sambanthan is not the first Tamil leader to say this. I hope he is the last Tamil leader to say this. Tamils have two options: 1. Throw in the Towel and get assimilated like many Tamils did under Devanambiya Tissa. 2. Tamil parties to join as ONE and chart their own future.

  3. How many times In the past since 1956 has Tamil Leaders said the same things to how many Sinhala parties and their heads of State?
How many more Tamil leaders after Sambanthan will say the same thing in years to come. Tamils future is in the hands of the Tamils not in foreign hands.
It is time for Tamil parties to join together..

  4. Now, Jaffna is being patrolled, under a dubious pretext, by government soldiers, against what is required in the last UNHRC resolution, after Buddangala Buddhist priest visited Jaffna and met a Judge, who went on his knees to worship the priest, in a slave posture.

The priest however cynically laughed at the judge, evidenced by a photo published in “Island” daily newspaper, during the second week of August 2017.

Neither the judge nor the Buddhist priest appear serious in their acts. For me, it looked
like a fake drama, staged with a hidden agenda.

The priest, a retired army general, later went to Palaly military camp to meet soldiers,
thereafter, the patrolling by the soldiers started in Jaffna.

Buddangala, started and named by this retired army general, who opted to be a priest, in
this area 50 years ago; then occupied predominantly by indigenous Tamils for many centuries.

The priest terrorised, murdered many Tamils and chased away the rest in an act of Tamil
genocide, to make it a “Sinhala land”.

The UNHRC should open a public investigation leading to an International Inquiry to ascertain the truth, and grant justice, not only in Buddangala but in all such areas in the
North East, where there is and had been ethnic cleansing or Tamil genocide; if the GSL, UNHRC and the world are serious about Democracy, rule of Law, Human Rights, constitution and reconciliation in SL.

  5. This is a good lesson for Mr Sirisena and Mr Ranil. Both were like crabs in water-pot until get boiled. Both wanted to go to clear water from mud water what ever way; to achieve this they joined Westerners and betrayed Sri Lanka. TNA and LTTE are the two sides of same coin. When LTTE failed to achieve what they tried using weapons, TNA tried using short-sighted Sri Lankan leaders by bring them to power. Now they got the lands back (as planned), got Tamil speaking Ambassadors to major countries in the world (as the secret election deal) to establish the link for future Tamil campaign against Sri Lanka. No matter how much given to TNA and their members who were ex-LTTE killers, they will join westerners at any moment against Sri Lanka. It is very unfortunate Sri Lankan leaders did not see this far; to understand why Tamils voted for them in recent elections. “Defeating Terrorism” is not something ‘weapon manufacturers’ want to show the world; now Sri Lanka has done the worst thing against them so their main income “selling weapons” is threatened. Eventually they will use UN and Tamil diaspora to attack Sri Lanka until pre-2009 situation is back; thanks to Mr Sirisena and Mr Ranil.
