Police reject allegations on IGP, say no complaint filed

The Police today rejected allegations raised against IGP Pujith Jayasundara where he was accused of abusing a lift operator at the Police Headquarters.

Police spokesman?ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that false information had been attached to the video accusing the IGP of assaulting the individual.

Gunasekara said that the IGP had questioned the lift operator and did not assault him or pull him by his shirt.

However text appearing with the video claimed the IGP had assaulted the lift operator and abused him using offensive language.

The video also showed the IGP pushing the?lift operator and raising his hand and threatening to slap him on the face.

The Police spokesman said the?lift operator had not filed a complaint with the Police Commission or the Law and Order Ministry over the incident.

Gunasekara said that the advice of the Attorney General (AG) will be sought on the action to be taken with regards to the video. (Colombo Gazette)
