Cabinet approves increasing minimum fine on some offences

Cabinet has approved a proposal to increase the minimum fine on some traffic offences, the Government said.

Accordingly a minimum fine of Rs. 25,000 will be imposed for driving without a valid driving license, driving without a valid insurance cover and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Meanwhile, anyone found driving a vehicle while being underage, speeding or overtaking from the left will be fined Rs. 2,500. (Colombo Gazette)
