Dr. Ajith Mendis to head Neville Fernando Hospital board

Dr Ajith Mendis is to be appointed chairman of the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital in Malabe which was taken over by the Government recently.

The hospital is to be acquired by the Ministry of Health Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine and is to be incorporated by a Parliamentary act like the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital.

The Board of Governors will be appointed with effect from 01 August 2017 for its administration and management under the Chairmanship of Dr. U.A. Ajith Mendis, Former Director General of Health Services.

RS. 200 million is to be allocated monthly for its operational expenses from allocations of the Ministry of Health Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine reserved for 2017. (Colombo Gazette)

IGP defends investigations into Borella church incident

Inspector General of Police (IGP) C. D. Wickramaratne has defended the ongoing investigations into the discovery of a grenade at All Saints? Church in Borella, Colombo. The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says the political motive behind the Easter attack has now become clear.
