Parts of Malabe and Athurugiriya had been in the dark for several hours since yesterday owing to a breakdown in the electricity supply.
Residents of the area told the Colombo Gazette that when contacted the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) breakdown team in the area had refused to attend to the repairs.
The CEB staff had said that an employee had been assaulted and as a result they will not attend to the repairs.
Parts of Malabe, including Raja Uyana, had been without electricity since 11pm last night while parts of Athurugiriya has been without electricity since 8pm yesterday.
The electricity supply was eventually restored this evening. It was reported that a suspect had been arrested over the assault on the CEB employees. (Colombo Gazette)
