Duminda Silva to be arrested after SC suspends pardon

Former MP Duminda Silva is to be arrested after the Supreme Court today suspended a presidential pardon granted to him in June 2021 while on death row. The Supreme Court had today issued an interim order suspending the presidential pardon granted to Duminda Silva and ordered his arrest. Duminda Silva was convicted over the murder of?Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in 2011. Sri Lanka to seek assistance from Paris Club and G7

Sri Lanka is to seek assistance from Paris Club lenders and the G7, Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor G.L. Peiris said. Supplementary estimate of Rs. 695 billion to be presented to Parliament

Cabinet has approved a proposal to present a supplementary estimate of Rs. 695 billion to Parliament.? The Government said that an assistance package for samurdhi beneficiaries, estate communities, pensioners and Government servants was introduced at the beginning of 2022 to reduce as much as possible the hardships faced by the public due to the adverse economic conditions.
