Sri Lanka to issue letters of interest to India, Japan for LNG plants

Sri Lanka is to issue letters of interests to India and Japan for the construction of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plants.

The Government says India and Japan have shown interest to establish two Liquid Natural Gas Power plants of 500 MW.

As a result a joint proposal made by Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, and Malik Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, to issue letters of interests to India and Japan, has been approved by the cabinet. (Colombo Gazette)
