Doctors extend strike launched today over SAITM issue

Government doctors who launched a strike today over the SAITM issue and the attack on protesting students, have decided to extend the strike.

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said the strike has been extended as a continuous strike.

Over 80 university students were admitted to hospital yesterday after the Police used tear-gas and water cannons to disperse a protest launched against the SAITM campus in Malabe.

The students had damages property in Health Ministry during the protest.

Government doctors however opposed the Police action and decided to launch a strike today. (Colombo Gazette)
