Army officers arrested in Keith Noyhar case granted bail

The six Army officers arrested in the case over the abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyhar were granted bail today.

The six Army intelligence officers were granted bail by the Colombo High Court.

An Army Major and two soldiers were arrested in February over the abduction and assault on Noyahr.

Subsequently a few other soldiers were also arrested over the case.

Noyahr was abducted in May 2008 and was severely assaulted before being set free.

The former Associate Editor of The Nation newspaper fled the country with his family following the incident fearing for his life. (Colombo Gazette)
