Complaint filed with Chilaw Police claiming woman killed in Kuwait

A complaint was filed with the Chilaw Police today claiming a woman from the area has been killed in Kuwait.

The family of the woman said to have been killed in Kuwait filed the Police complaint today.

They claimed that they lost contact with Siriyawathi Fernando while she was employed in Kuwait. The 29 year old had gone to Kuwait in 2014 on a two year contract.

The family had received a telephone call earlier saying Siriyawathi Fernando’s life was under threat.

In the Police complaint, the family says they have not heard from Siriyawathi Fernando for a couple of months and so they believe she may have been killed.

The family also claimed that a complaint had been filed a few days ago saying Siriyawathi Fernando’s life was at risk yet no action was taken. (Colombo Gazette)
