A Sri Lankan delegation and officials of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) had talks on a million dollar MCC grant.
Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Development Dr. Harsha de Silva who led the Sri Lankan delegation at the talks in the US, said that preparations for the multi-hundred million dollar MCC grant are moving forward.
“Our Ambassador in the US Prasad Kariyawasam and I met with top officials of the Millennium Challenge Corporation; Fatema Sumar and Caroline Nguyen along with Sri Lanka coordinator Nilan Fernando in DC. We discussed at length the issues we need to address to process the project at the earliest. I will take steps to expedite it,” Dr. Harsha de Silva said.
He noted that the grant is to the Sri Lankan people by the American people and is the biggest grant ever by any country. (Colombo Gazette)
