Ravi leaves for India, will meet Modi for talks

Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake left for India today where he will have talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A media spokesman for Karunanayake said that he is scheduled to have talks with Modi tonight and other Indian officials tomorrow before returning to Sri Lanka.

This is his first overseas visit since being appointed Foreign Minister recently.

It was reported that Karunanayake had met the Chinese Ambassador to Colombo yesterday and thanked him for the assistance given by China following the recent floods and landslides.

India and China were among the first countries to respond to the disaster by sending ships and a plane loaded with urgent supplies. (Colombo Gazette)
