Resident of Lankan camp in Tamil Nadu guilty of sexual abuse

The Mahila Court in Tamil Nadu awarded three-year imprisonment to an 85-year-old man from a Sri Lankan refugee camp on the charge of sexually harassing a six-year-old girl in Batlagundu in the district, The Hindu newspaper reported.

The convict was Pandi of Sri Lankan refugee camp in Pudhupatti near Batlagundu.

The prosecution said that the old man harassed the girl in the camp in 2015. The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Nilakottai police, who, in turn, arrested and produced him before the court.

Mahila Court Judge K. Karunanidhi also slapped a fine of Rs. 1,000.
