Pro-LTTE group urges diaspora to support flood victims

A leading?Pro-LTTE group has urged the Tamil diaspora to support the flood victims in the South.

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) led by former LTTE negotiator Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, called upon the international community to contribute generously towards the rescue and rehabilitation of populations affected by the floods.

The TGTE also appealed to the global Tamil diaspora to extend their sincere support to alleviate the suffering of victims and volunteer efforts to help deal with the unfolding calamity through all possible avenues.

“In this moment of humanitarian crisis it is imperative for all concerned show solidarity with the victims of this unprecedented tragedy,” Rudrakumaran said.

He said that in the long run the current crisis indicates the need for better preparedness and improvements in infrastructure at the local levels throughout the island of Sri Lanka to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters. (Colombo Gazette)

School kids killed in US school shooting

A lone gunman killed 26 people at an elementary school in Connecticut, including 18 children, in a terrifying early Friday morning shooting spree. Orphaned child drowns in Wellawatte

An orphaned child fell into a canal in Wellawatte and drowned this afternoon, the police media unit said. The police said that the 9 year old boy was living at the children’s home in Dharmarama road, Wellawatte. The police identified the child as Mohommad Milnath. The Wellawatte police are conducting further investigations.
