President, PM meet, UNP holds separate discussion on reshuffle

President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met late this evening ahead of the scheduled cabinet reshuffle tomorrow, reports said.

The United National Party (UNP) was also to meet tonight to discuss matters relating to the reshuffle.

Several UNP members are not happy with the reshuffle and some have warned of drastic action?if the cabinet?reshuffle goes ahead.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is among those set to lose his current position.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had telephoned him yesterday and discussed the move to make him the new Foreign Minister. (Colombo Gazette)

The Government today informed Parliament there was no evidence to back claims that Brandix brought Indians to Sri Lanka just before the latest coronavirus crisis. Health Minister accused of deceiving public on community spread

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has been accused of deceiving the public on a community spread. Parliament was told today that the coronavirus was spreading in Kuliyapitiya. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the virus was spreading fast in several areas.
