Neville Fernando hospital acquired with SAITM backing

The Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital has been acquired with the backing of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), the Government said today.

Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera told reporters today that SAITM had agreed on transferring the hospital to the Government at no cost.

“This private hospital will now become a Government hospital. In this hospital, like SAITM students all other students will also be able to obtain training,” he said.

Perera said the move will benefit all Sri Lankans and not just a handful of people.

The Deputy Minister said that the formalities of the government taking over the?Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital will be completed soon. (Colombo Gazette)
