Human bones found at new five-star hotel construction site

Human bones have been found from the construction site of the Shangri-La Hotel in?Colombo, the Police said.

Police Headquarters said that several human bones were found from the site at Galle Face.

The Police said that the bones were discovered while digging the earth using heavy machinery.

Initial suspicion was that the site may have been a cemetery several years back.

A Magisterial inquiry was conducted at the location and police investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lankan man found dead in Italy

Over 3500 arrested for violating curfew

Over 3500 persons were arrested on charges of violating the islandwide Police curfew currently in effect and for committing other offences during curfew hours. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana told Colombo Gazette that 3700 individuals were arrested as of 06.00 a.m. today.
