Nearly 200 KG of heroin seized by police in Chilaw

Nearly 200 kilograms of heroin was seized by the Police in Chilaw today, the Police media unit said.

The Police said that one person was arrested with the heroin which was being transported in a vehicle.

The Police suspect the heroin was smuggled into the area?using the sea route and was then being transported to Colombo when it was seized.

Meanwhile, another heroin haul was seized in Maradana. The Police said?heroin weighing around 3.5 kilograms was found in a?garbage mound in Maradana.?(Colombo Gazette)

Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka reaches 96

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka reached 96 today, the Government Information Department said. Two more deaths were reported this evening, one from Colombo and the other from Pannipitiya. One patient is a 45-year-old woman from Colombo 12. She died at the Colombo National Hospital from high blood pressure and the coronavirus.
