Decision to reduce Mahinda’s police security reversed

A decision taken to reduce the police security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been reversed.

Police Headquarters had yesterday decided to remove 50 police officers attached to Rajapaksa’s security unit.

However the decision was reversed today. The move to reduce the number of police officers was taken just days after his Army security was also reduced.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya last week said he will seek clarity on the withdrawal of the military security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The opposition earlier raised concerns in Parliament over the withdrawal of the Army security. (Colombo Gazette)

  2. Mahinda is the only one needs security. Both Sirisena and Chandrika are holding hands with Tamil groups so they do not need any security. Even Sarath Fonseka is with Tamils and no complain for killing Tamils. Unfortunately these people still rule the country using double standards.
