Speaker to seek clarity on withdrawal of MR’s Army security

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today said he will seek clarity on the alleged withdrawal of the military security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The opposition raised concerns in Parliament today over the withdrawal of the Army security.

Opposition Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma said that?Rajapaksa has a threat to his life and so he must be given full security.

Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella however said that Rajapaksa has been given STF security and that the STF is the best unit to give security.

Jayasuriya said that he will discuss the matter with the President, Prime Minister and Law and Order Minister. (Colombo Gazette)

Booster for those over 30 years in Colombo from tomorrow

Booster shots will be administered for those over 30 years of age based in Colombo from tomorrow. No approval for vehicle imports in 2022

The Government will not permit the importation of vehicles in 2022, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said today. He said that Sri Lanka is facing a crisis in foreign reserves, especially since there has been a drastic drop in remittances sent by the migrant workers. As a result, he said that the importation of vehicles in 2022 will not be permitted. He also said that fresh recruitment of public sector employees will also not be carried out in 2022.
