Joint opposition challenges Government to hold LG polls

The joint opposition today challenged the Government to hold the Local Government (LG) elections soon.

Joint opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said that if the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the United National Party feel they had the most number of participants at the May Day rally then they have nothing to fear in holding the LG election.

He says former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the joint opposition had accepted the challenge from the Government and showed the support they have during the May Day rally yesterday.

Namal Rajapaksa says the Government must now accept the challenge from the joint opposition and hold the LG election.

“If you are not scared then please hold the election,” he said.

He said at the election the public will decide if they will further accept the broken promises of the Government. (Colombo Gazette)
