President issues gazette for Parliament to meet on Friday

A gazette notification has been issued by President Maithripala Sirisena for Parliament to meet on Friday to be informed of the decision taken to declare disposing garbage an essential service.

The President instructed the issuance of the special gazette notification last week to declare garbage disposal as an essential service.

Accordingly a gazette was issued under the Public Security Act Clause NO 16 declaring garbage disposal by any authority of the Public Administration is an essential service.

Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake, in a letter to all Parliamentarians, said that Parliament will meet at 9.30 a.m. on Friday in order to communicate Parliament that an Essential Service Order has been declared by the President by virtue of the powers vested in him under Section 2(3) of Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40) read with Article 70(1) of the Constitution.?(Colombo Gazette)

Royal Navy ship arrives in Colombo
