Vietnam notes Sri Lanka’s key position in the Indian Ocean

Vietnam today noted the importance of Sri Lanka’s positioning in the Indian Ocean.

The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that his country will look to boost ties with Sri Lanka in several fields.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed these views after holding bilateral talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

At the meeting both countries agreed to further boost the economic relations between both countries.

Dayasiri appointed SLFP Kurunegala District leader

Former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera has been appointed as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Kurunegala District leader. Jayasekera, who had earlier resigned from the Government with 15 other SLFP Ministers, has since realigned himself with President Maithripala Sirisena. Jayasekera was the only member of the ‘group of 16’ which left the government, who attended the SLFP Central Committee meeting yesterday.
