Japan to send technical team to Sri Lanka following disaster

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has received a message of condolence, addressed to the Government and people of Sri Lanka, from the Prime Minister of Japan, Hon. Shinzo Abe, expressing his heartfelt condolences, and that of his Government and people, on the recent disaster at a garbage dump in Sri Lanka, which has led to the unfortunate loss of life and property.

In the aftermath of this disaster, Abe has offered Japan?s assistance to recovery efforts.

A technical team from Japan is likely to visit Sri Lanka at the earliest to take stock of the situation and assist in remedial measures. Details are currently being worked out. (Colombo Gazette)

Fuel prices increased in line with IMF expectations

Fuel prices have been increased in line with the expectations of the?International Monetary Fund (IMF). Co-cabinet spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will increase fuel prices?from midnight today. Accordingly 92 Octane petrol will be sold at Rs 137 per litre, 95 Octane Rs 148, Auto Diesel Rs 109 and Super Diesel Rs 119 per litre. The price of kerosene will also be increased to Rs 101.
