The production complex was built by the Cargills (Ceylon) PLC by infusing a huge investment into the local dairy industry in Sri Lanka.

The President opened the factory by unveiling the plaque and later he made an inspection tour of the premises.

President Sirisena presented scholarships to students under the Sarudina project of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC. The President also presented Laptop Computers to the students.

Ministers Arjuna Ranatunga, P. Harrison, the Chairman of Cargills, Louis R Page, Deputy Chairman, Ranjit Page and many others participated at this event.

  1. This is a good achievement in the country. Government must encourage local farmers to manage cattle for making milk and selling to this factory. The factory management also should have a strategy to develop local farming by providing training and giving guidance for locals to do so. Also they can contribute in financing as well.
