Badulla may lose a seat at the next Parliament elections

Badulla may lose a seat at the next Parliament elections, head of the Elections Commission and Commissioner of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya said.

He said that the?gazette notice on the seats allocated for each district at the next Parliament elections will be issued tomorrow.

Deshapriya also said that elections for the Local Government (LG) bodies of which the terms end this year, must be held this year.

He said that holding the election is in the hands of the Minister in charge of provincial councils and Parliament. (Colombo Gazette)

Mullaitivu court frees eight Indian fishermen

Eight Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were arrested for allegedly crossing the international maritime border, were released by Sri Lanka following an order by a court in Mullaitivu, the ANI news agency reported.
