Speaker warns MPs over their conduct in Parliament

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today warned Members of Parliament (MPs) over their conduct in the House.

The Speaker said that MPs must respect Parliament and other MPs when making statements in Parliament.

He said that he had reviewed the hansard of Parliament proceedings held on Wednesday and found that some MPs had made unacceptable comments on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesighe.

Jayasuriya said that he had warned the MPs after going through the hansard of the proceedings.

He said that the Standing Orders of Parliament are clear on the conduct of the MPs and the Standing Orders must be followed. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The way of Speaker conducts of Parliament procedure really bias and politically affiliated UNP -Ranil W,,, favor. This is first time minority members become leader of Oppositions in World Parliamentary system of Governances. He-Speaker is working according UNP leadership agenda .

    Well know facts says th Parliaments sovereignty has lost totally voice of opposition has suppressed ,only Ranil W.. has every right speak in Parliament by order of Speaker .
    Current Speakers is not impartial, he is more or less take all advices from Sri-kota of UNP headquarters>

    Better him re- think of his role and eligibility as Speaker of Parliament by himself by his suitability of post of Speaker ?

    He really lost all means of remaining position of Speaker ??????
