He said that the Government needs to address several crucial issues over the next two years, including issues related to the economy.
“As a result I can tell you the President will take key political decisions and decisions related to the economy,” he said.
He said that there are some shortcomings in the economy which need to be addressed.
Yapa said that the decisions to be taken by the President might be seen as positive by some while others may feel sour.
He said the President has a responsibility towards addressing key issues and taking the country forward.
The Minister said the political decisions to be taken by the President will ensure political stability in the country as well as the stability of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
Asked if there will be changes in the cabinet, Yapa said that he could not comment on that.
