Army hands over 33 houses to war affected families

The Army has handed over 33 newly constructed houses, valued at Rs. 33 million, to displace families of welfare centers in the Jaffna Peninsula.

The houses were handed over by Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) – SF (J) and Nagalingham Vethanayahan, the District Secretary of Jaffna.

Under Phase – II, a total number of 33 most deserving displaced families, still languishing in 30 relief, welfare centers across the peninsula was selected to issue ownership certificates.

Addressing the recipients, the Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna stated that the Sri Lanka Army will continue the process and construct another 225 houses in the Mavankalladdi area with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force. (Colombo Gazette)
