Maldivian arrested attempting to smuggle money

A Maldivian national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning when he attempted to smuggle foreign currency out of the country. The 26 year old man was arrested at the airport departure lounge with USD 25,000 valued at over Rs. 3.5 million. He was attempting to take the money to Bangkok when he was stopped by customs officers.?Investigations are underway.
