Mahinda accused of failing to address post war issues

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been accused of failing to address post war economic and social issues.

Minister of Public Enterprises Development Kabir Hashim said that while Rajapaksa must be given credit for defeating the LTTE, economic and social issues were not addressed five years after the war.

Hashim said that simply constructing hospitals and buildings will not resolve the issues faced by the people.

The Minister said that there was a need for the two main political parties to unite to address the issues at hand.

He said everyone knows Sri Lanka fell into the biggest debt trap under the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.

However the Minister said by joining hands the unity Government has been able to make a change. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The LTTE war against Sri Lankan Government was well supported by Western powers. That is why it continued for 30 years and only Rajapaksa could win the war because he did not listened to Western countries on how to fight with LTTE. Although the LTTE was defeated, Western powers are still interfering Sri Lankan affairs so Rajapaksa could not address post war economic and social issues as quickly as he wanted.
