UN Special Rapporteur notes trust deficit in Sri Lanka

The UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues,?Rita Izs?k-Ndiaye, today noted that there is a?trust deficit vis-?-vis the State as well as between the communities in Sri Lanka. Chinese woman arrested with 247 gems at BIA

A Chinese woman was arrested at the Banadaranaike International Airport today with 247 gems. The foreigner was arrested while attempting to smuggle the gems out of Sri Lanka. The gems are worth over Rs. 11 million.

Cops arrested over deaths of two Jaffna Uni students

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has commenced an investigation into the deaths of two Jaffna University students, who were travelling on a motorcycle in Kankasanturai. The Post Mortem into these deaths are now being held, and five Police officers have been arrested over the incident and were immediately interdicted, the Government Information department said.
