Presidential Commission of Inquiry attends CB bond auction

Members of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (COI), looking into irregularities in respect to the issuance of Treasury bonds, visited the Central Bank today and witnessed the bond auction process as part of its investigations.

The?COI is headed by Justice K.T. Chitrasiri, Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Prasanna Jayawardana, Judge of the Supreme Court and Kandasamy Velupillai, Retired Deputy Auditor General. ?The Secretary to the commission is Sumathipala Udugamasuriya.

The commission has been mandated to investigate and inquire into and report on the issuance of Treasury bonds during the period from 1 February 2015 to 31 March 2016. (Colombo Gazette)

Head of Avant-Garde?s Maritime Security Division arrested

The head of Avant-Garde?s Maritime Security Division, Vishwajith Nandana Diyabalanage, was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today. He was arrested when he returned to the country from Singapore. Diyabalanage was wanted over ongoing investigations into Avant-Garde. He had fled to Singapore despite a travel ban being imposed on him by the Galle Magistrate?s Court.

Presidential Commission of Inquiry hands over report

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry to probe allegations of corruption and misappropriation in state institutions, handed over its report to President Maithripala Sirisena. The President?s Media Division (PMD) said that the Commission handed over the 1st volume of the report to the President.
